Here’s an article outlining the steps to take to leave GoDaddy.
We’ve also provided a few independent sites to help you decide where to host your site moving forward:

If you know an individual or business that is using GoDaddy, here’s a sample message you can send to encourage them to switch:
“Dear XX: It has come to my attention that you are doing business with GoDaddy, a company that continuously degrades women to sell their product. Their television and Internet advertisements demoralize and sexualize women. Please stop doing business with such an offensive company. Show your support for women and girls by switching to another web hosting company. There are plenty of equally viable options. Thank you!”
We know you’re tired of GoDaddy’s sexist advertising. This is a small way of helping make a difference in the future. So maybe one day soon we won’t have to sit through one of their offensive commercials during the Super Bowl.
FYI: We currently use Namecheap.com to host MissRepresentation.org

How can I find out if an organization I like uses Go Daddy to host their domain? I hate that company and want to reach out to every group that I have ever donated to or done business with and ask them to make the switch!!
Laura – you can look it up via a whois search on our site. http://www.puritynames.com/en/PurityWhoisStep1.aspx
http://www.internic.net/whois.html Put in the domain name and check the registrar, which may or may not be the host as well. If they are hosted by GoDaddy, the servers are domaincontrol.com I think.
You can go to http://www.WhoIs.net to find out where a person has their domain registered. I want to volunteer my services to help anyone who needs assistance to move their domains from GoDaddy.com. Back when Bob Parson’s (GoDaddy) did their first Super Bowl commmercial, I voiced my dissatisfaction on his blog and he responded. He knew I was angry about him degrading women when many women own businesses and purchase domains also. I was so angry I bought LeaveDaddy.com and then received a threatening email telling me to give them the domain. I never did give it to them and then gave it up eventually. They own it now. I wish I had kept it!!!
I’m with Laura (above comment). I also want to know organization that use Go Daddy. Thanks!
OOH LA LA! I just purchased AdiosDaddy.com!!! I will add this along with my over 500 domains and move them all away from GoDaddy.com in the next 2 weeks.
Please consider posting a comment on Danica Patrick’s websites also. I just posted the following to her Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/DanicaPatrick
Ms. Patrick,
Congratulations on your career in racing. It’s wonderful to see women pushing the boundaries within a stereotypical man’s world, and, in your case, pushing the speedometer. Along with the long list of what little girls can already dream of being when they grow up, you have added NASCAR driver to the list. Unfortunately, your partnership with GoDaddy all but negates whatever strides you have made on behalf of those little girls. The sexual exploitation and objectification of women within GoDaddy’s ads are demeaning to both men and women. Although I’m sure it benefits both yourself and your racing team, please consider the mixed message you are sending.
Thank you,
C. Walker
you hit the nail on the head girl!!!!

own it …. are you a whore or not??? just make a decision because I have been a long time fan and now I am sickened so whatever. you totally knocked yourself down quite a bit..
I posted that great letter above all over Danica Patricks Facebook posts! Everyone should add to it!
I switched away from GoDaddy when I realized how bad those ads are (thank you Leo Laporte!) I just used them because I didn’t know any better or of alternatives. I’ve switched all domains I manage away from them (quite a few), and I’m done with them forever.
Go Daddy has lost a customer and Danica Patrick has lost a fan. My daughter and I will be watching the women in IndyCar this season.
Damn, i just started my hosting with GoDaddy grrr.ok, will look into that.
Seriously? You’d think with what these women have gone through to get where they are, they’d have higher standards than making ads that make jokes about this sort of tripe. Geez!
You can also use: http://www.dotster.com their service has been great!
I’m trying to build a membership website and people have told me that Joomla works best. I have downloaded Joomla and don’t know what to do from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Does this cover PHP as well or do I need to download that?.
merci! i soooo want to tell GD to kiss my A** after that horrific super bowl commercial….but i’m so damn ‘invested’ with multiple web pages using their templates that would take FOREVER to move/remake…. moved all my domains there…. makes me sick on my stomach…
Thank you for this info…I will post a link back to this page. That Superbowl ad was awful, and I cancelled 5 domains I owned with GoDaddy this morning. I plan to transfer the rest asap.
[...] The saddest thing of all? GoDaddy isn’t exactly going out of business. If you have GoDaddy, do yourself and all the ladies and gents you know a favor, and switch to a different domain. [...]
